The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc is a generous wine, with complex and elegant layers of tropical and stone fruit characteristics. This beautiful wine envelops you with pronounced aromas of guava, star fruit, passion fruit and undertones of honeysuckle and chamomile while on the palate exudes bright acidity that extends the finish all the way through a buttery biscuit note developed with very careful management of lees contact during the maturation process, so that the delicate varietal flavors of the Sauvignon Blanc are not overwhelmed.
2020 Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley
2020 began with a dry winter generating only half of the regions annual rainfall and staying on trend with a warmer than typical summer. This type of conditions lent themselves to helping the vines develop small berries with deep concentrated flavors yet maintaining natural acidity with cooling temperature descending from the Vaca Mountains to the east of MaCo Vineyards, and with oceanic influences from the San Pablo Bay that get funneled up the valley and through the property. Harvest started August 21 early in the morning when it was still dark and cool in order to preserve fruit purity.
